CFU Wishes Muslims Worldwide Eid al-Adha Mubarak

On the joyous occasion of Eid al-Adha, Campaign For Uyghurs (CFU) raises a poignant reminder that Uyghurs are unable to celebrate this sacred occasion due to the Chinese regime’s ban on Islamic practices. CFU calls upon the Muslim world to take a leading role in holding the Chinese regime accountable for the ongoing Uyghur genocide and demanding an end to the religious persecution faced by the Uyghurs in East Turkistan.

Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, holds immense significance for Muslims worldwide as a time of spiritual reflection, compassion, and unity. However, for Uyghurs, this celebration is marred by the Chinese regime’s systematic suppression of their religious and cultural rights. Islamic practices, including fasting, praying, and observing religious rituals, have been banned, depriving Uyghurs of their fundamental freedoms and denying them the opportunity to observe their faith during this holy occasion. 

Executive Director, Rushan Abbas, emphasizes the urgent need for the Muslim world to act: “As we celebrate Eid al-Adha, we must remember the Uyghurs who are denied the right to practice their faith. The Chinese regime’s ban on Islamic practices not only infringes upon their religious freedom but also contributes to a broader campaign of cultural erasure and genocide. It is incumbent upon the Muslim world to stand in solidarity with the Uyghurs and take a leading role in holding the Chinese regime accountable for these heinous crimes.” 

Program Director Arslan Hidayat echoed Abbas’ call and said “We call upon Muslim leaders, organizations, and individuals to use their influence and voice to demand justice and an end to the persecution of Uyghurs. This Eid, let us remember the Uyghurs who are suffering and reaffirm our commitment to standing up for their rights. Eid Mubarak to all, and may our collective efforts bring an end to this tragedy.” 

CFU urges the Muslim world to take concrete steps to hold the Chinese regime accountable for its crimes against humanity and genocide. This includes exerting diplomatic pressure, promoting international investigations, and implementing economic measures that discourage complicity in forced labor and human rights abuses. By leveraging their influence and advocating for justice, the Muslim world can play a crucial role in ending the suffering of the Uyghurs.
