Campaign For Uyghurs (CFU), has become the target of a malicious cyberattack. CFU’s website, campaignforuyghurs.org, has been hacked, leading visitors to a Chinese government website instead. This act clearly demonstrates the lengths to which the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is willing to go in order to silence advocates for Uyghur rights.

CFU’s relentless commitment to shedding light on the Uyghur crisis has made our organization a thorn in the side of the Chinese government. By exposing their disinformation campaign and debunking false narratives, CFU has been successful in challenging the CCP’s efforts to manipulate the international community’s perception of the situation in East Turkistan.

Executive Director, Rushan Abbas, shed light on the possible motivation behind the cyberattack. She states, “The widespread success of our advocacy against the CCP’s massive propaganda machine is the obvious motive for this cyberattack. By un-veiling the truth about the CCP’s genocide against the Uyghur people, we have become a target of their government sponsored efforts to suppress information and control the narrative.”

This targeted cyber aggression against CFU’s website serves as a reminder of the Chinese government’s desperate attempts to suppress organizations that advocate for justice and hold them accountable for their crimes against humanity and genocide. CFU remains steadfast in its dedication to provide the world with the truth about the CCP and will continue to strive for justice in ending the Uyghur genocide.

CFU calls on governments, internet service providers, and technology companies to take a firm stand against this cyber aggression and protect the digital spaces that are vital in the pursuit of justice and human rights. CFU also encourages widespread support for organizations working to uplift the voices of the Uyghur people and bring an end to the ongoing atrocities.
